What did God do for us?
We are sinners. We have been and always will be. This condition is carried forward from the
days of Adam. God provided great mercy through the centuries by not applying the eternal
punishments we deserve as sinful people that have turned away from Him.
Rather, He made the ultimate sacrifice, giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, allowing him to die on
the cross for us, and instead of us. Jesus experienced our trials, tribulations and temptations,
but was sinless. He was unjustly crucified on a cross, and died---but this only fulfilled God's
ultimate plan. He was raised from the dead three days after his burial, ascending into heaven
to be reunited with His Father in heaven. This happened just as it was foretold in numerous
prophesies of that age.
Just like a present that is being held out for us to accept, all we have to do is acknowledge that
God did what He said and that Jesus died for our sins. Upon believing, we are given eternal
life in heaven with Christ, and can find comfort in this life, despite our circumstances.
